A Familiar Road By Jeremy Thomas Holr

Familiar Road by Jeremy Thomas Holt

I’ve come upon a familiar place

Here we go again

I’ve been here before

I stand Facing a familiar road

Why am I here again

All that goes through my mind

Is what I went through before

On this same old road

The things I did and the mistakes I made

Threatened to destroy me

It’s a haunting past i wish I could forget

I was lost in a world beyond our own

I was blinded by lies and deceit

I was used and abused,

I was taken advantage of

Got my heart broken in half

My world was crumbling

I was ready to give up

But then You came

You rescued me

Your light shined bright

You took my in Your arms

You gave me life

You gave me strength

You gave me purpose

You opened my eyes

Through You I could see

I am more than my mistakes

I am more than my past

I am no longer blinded by lies and deceit

My heart was made whole

You rescued me from a crumbling world

You gave me hope when I had none

I’ve learned so much from walking this same old road

I learned that I tried to hard

That I tried on my own

That wouldn’t let You help me

That I wouldn’t trust in You

That I thought to much of myself and not enough of You

That I was impatient

That I thought I knew what things were meant for me

That I ignored Your warnings

Not trusting in You was my biggest mistake and it almost cost me everything

Never again will I make that mistake

But now as I stand facing a familiar road

I remember all the things that I learned rather than my mistakes

I realize now that I’ve learned to trust in You

That I’ve learned not to ignore You

That I’ve learned to let You help me and guide me

That I’ve learned that I don’t always know what things are meant for me

That I’ve learned not to think too much of myself and to think more of You

That I’ve learned not to ignore Your warnings

That I’ve learned to be patient and trust in Your timing

And that I’ve learned not try this life on my own anymore

I thank you Lord for showing me what I was doing wrong and how to Trust in You and do things right.

You rescued me and I could never thank you enough for what You have done for me.

Thank You Lord for rescuing me from the familiar road. In Jesus Name amen!!!
