 My Passion For Star Wars

My passion for Star Wars is very huge and not just because of the lightsabers (my favorite weapon of all time), r2d2, all the different ships, all the different characters, the blaster guns, and the force and dreaming of being a real life Jedi but because of the different lessons Star Wars can teach us.  One of the characters I learned the most from is my favorite character Yoda! Here of some of his most famous and wiser quotes 

“Fear is the path to the dark side. . . Fears leads to anger. . . Anger leads to hate. . . Hate leads to suffering.” 

“Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.” 

“Try not. Do or do not there is no try.” 

“Hard to see the dark side is.” 

“If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny; consume you it will.” 

“The dark side clouds everything; impossible to see, the future is.” 

“The fear of loss is a path to the dark side.” 

“A Jedi’s strength flows from the force. But beware of the dark side. Anger. . . Fear. . . Aggression. The dark side of the force are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight.” 

“Luminous beings are we. . . Not this crude matter.” 

“Always In motion is the future.” 

My ally is the force. And a powerful ally it is. Life creates it; makes it grow. It’s energy surrounds us and binds us.” 

Yoda constantly warns his Jedi padawans of the dark side when he is training them. If you stop and think about these quotes and everything we experience In real life a lot these quotes can apply to real life and not just to Star Wars. For example when we get scared we tend to get angry once we’re angry we start hating and then after you suffer from the consequences and from what you put yourself through. Star Wars also teaches that not matter how bad things get and no matter how dark things seem there is always hope which to me is what the very first episode of Star Wars ever made taught me. 

Also when Obi-wan and Anakin faught on Mustafar Obi-wan confronted anikin who had fallen to the dark side and tried to turn him back by telling him “anikin chancellor palpitine is evil.” But Anakin responded “from my point of view the Jedi are evil.” And the Obi-wan responds “well then you are lost.” 

Here is the rest of the conversation between before they started fighting. 

Obi-Wan Kenobi: You have allowed this dark lord to twist your mind, until now... until now you've become the very thing you swore to destroy.

Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader: Don't lecture me, Obi-Wan! I see through the lies of the Jedi. I do not fear the dark side as you do. I have brought peace, freedom, justice, and security to my new Empire.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Your new empire?

Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader: Don't make me kill you.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Anakin, my allegiance is to the Republic, to democracy!

Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader: If you're not with me, then you're my enemy.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Only a Sith deals in absolutes. I will do what I must.

Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader: You will try.

This whole scene reminds of exactly what goes on in our country today between republicans and Democrats and how we all fight with each other. 

It is very easy to be consumed by the darkness and be led astray and made to do things of great evil. Once this has happened it’s very hard to come back from. Like Yoda says it can dominate your destiny and consume you forever. 

There is a quote from the character Rose Tico (who everyone hates) In the newer trilogy and everyone also thinks this quote is super cheesy but I find illuminating and powerful. She said to Finn lI saved you dummy, that’s how we win not by fighting what we but by saving what we love.” And she had point with that quote. The point was instead of concentrating on fighting what we hate we should concentrate on fighting to save what we love instead. That we should be fight the darkness together side by side instead of fighting with each other and trying to fight the darkness by ourselves. That’s what she meant. 

All do these different lessons in Star Wars was what inspire me to make the video I made a few weeks back. Everyday I am thankful for Star Wars and the lessons it teaches us. I have book I started reading called the Christian Jedi which uses Star Wars and the Bible to teach powerful lessons in your walk with Christ with your favorite movie series. It’s awesome so far.
